Entrepreneur’s shocking injuries after his lover poured boiling water on him as he slept

A business entrepreneur from Sydney has revealed his horrific experience when his boyfriend allegedly assaulted him with boiling water and a saucepan while he was sleeping in a luxury French hotel.

The attack left Callum Forbes with second-degree burns to his face, which were so bad that they needed stitches.

There were also burns on his torso and arms and a burst eardrum. It is alleged that Australian banker David Cao attacked Forbes with a saucepan full of hot water while he was sleeping, according to police. The Daily Telegraph reported that it happened shortly after the pair had discussed ending their relationship.

It comes after a woman ‘slit her partner’s throat’ and dumped his body after 18 hours in a separate incident.

On the night of the attack, the couple had dinner and enjoyed the space while staying at the $500-a-night Château de Perreux boutique hotel in the Nazelles-Négron area, France.

The couple was staying at the boutique venue’s “cave rooms” after attending the Amsterdam Pride event. Later that night, on July 28, Forbes was then attacked while fast asleep.

“Strangely, I kept sleeping, but I was burned, badly burned. I still thought I was in a nightmare until I looked down and saw blood everywhere on the floor – it was like a murder scene. I started screaming for help,” he told the Daily Telegraph.

After the violent attack, 37-year-old Cao allegedly fled the scene. French police eventually caught up with him and arrested him at the Belgian border following a 36-hour manhunt.

Cao is said to have left the hotel in a rental car, making a three-hour trip to Rouen before boarding a train to Paris, and then on to Lille near the Belgian border, where he was arrested as he got off the train.

The accused, who was a banker employed by ING at the time, was charged with attempted murder and is in custody awaiting trial. He is also facing other charges, including kidnapping, theft, torture, and acts of barbarity, according to French newspaper Ouest France.

According to La Nouvelle République, Cao has admitted to the attack but not intending to kill his partner.

Cao is reportedly no longer employed by ING. A spokesperson for the company told news.com.au, “We are aware of allegations involving a former employee.” Meanwhile, a teenage boy, 14, vanished on a family vacation after jet skiing with a stranger in an unrelated incident.
