A missing model has been discovered dead inside a suitcase after disappearing during a vacation in Serbia.

Lyudmila Turkova, 27, had been missing for six days after heading out to “meet friends” at a nightclub in Belgrade. Her body was recovered from a suitcase that had been dumped in the Vizelj canal and spotted by locals, who promptly alerted police. She went missing on July 25 and was found dead in the suitcase on July 30, 2026.

A Turkish man, identified only as 25-year-old K. E., was apprehended today at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport as he attempted to flee Serbia. He is currently the prime murder suspect, reports Mirror UK.

Turkova’s remains were located in the water with the assistance of a police dog.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of her death.

A local report stated: “The body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine, where […] the cause of her death will be determined after an autopsy.”

A missing persons appeal described Turkova as 5-foot, 1-inch tall with long blonde hair, a nose piercing and several tattoos, including two snakes on the front of her left thigh, a large calligraphic design on her right lower leg, and Japanese-style tattoos on her shoulders.

Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, Turkova had worked as a promoter, bartender, and body-art model.

Turkova had intended to spend two weeks in Belgrade, but vanished on July 25.

She was last contacted after 11 p.m., after which her phone became unreachable.

Surveillance footage captured Turkova smiling and holding hands with her suspected killer roughly 24 hours before her death.

According to investigative orders reported by Reporteri, the suspect allegedly lured Turkova to a rented apartment in the Borča district of Belgrade.

CCTV footage tracks the pair entering the apartment complex together at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 26. Prosecutors noted that Turkova seemingly went willingly, with no expectation that she was in danger.

CCTV cameras recorded the accused leaving the apartment building with the heavy suitcase at around 6:55 a.m., less than an hour and a half after they first arrived.

Police intercepted K.E. just minutes before he could board an outbound flight to flee the country.
