Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have tied the knot in an ‘intimate’ civil ceremony in Portugal, after a near 10-year relationship.

The couple’s five children were present at the Cascais nuptials and the Portuguese football star has shared a snap of their wedding bands on Instagram.

He captioned the post of their holding hands, with gold bands on display: ‘C❤️G.’

A representative for Ronaldo also confirmed the union, saying: ‘Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez were married today in a civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, and are now officially husband and wife.

‘The ceremony was a private and intimate moment attended by their five children.’

It comes after swirling speculation that the couple were about to tie the knot, after getting engaged last year.

The wedding comes exactly one year after Rodríguez announced their engagement on Instagram on August 11, in 2025.

‘Sí, quiero. En esta y en todas mis vidas,’ Rodríguez wrote in the caption at the time, alongside a photo of her huge opal-shaped ring. It translates to, ‘Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.’

The pro footballer, 41, and his media personality partner, 32, have been together since 2016, having met at the Gucci store in Madrid, where she worked as a sales manager at the time.

The couple share five children: twins Eva Maria and Mateo, nine, daughter Alana, eight, daughter Bella, four, and 16-year-old son Cristiano Jr, whom Ronaldo welcomed prior to their relationship.

The couple previously announced the death of Bella’s newborn twin brother, Ángel, in April 2022.

After Ronaldo’s proposal, Georgina told Elle Spain: ‘The truth is, when he proposed, it was the last thing on my mind.

‘It took me a long time to process the enormous stone he gave me. I was so shocked that I left it in my room and didn’t open it in the sunlight until the next day.’

Referring to her huge diamond engagement ring, she joked: ‘It’s the least he could offer me after 10 years of waiting.’

Ronaldo previously told Piers Morgan that he planned to wed his longtime girlfriend after the World Cup.

‘I hope to arrive at my wedding with the champion’s trophy,’ he said.  Unfortunately, Portugal were knocked out of the tournament, dashing his hopes.

Speaking of his longtime love, he added: ‘I’m going to marry her because I believe it’s the right time. Not just because she’s the mother of my children — but because she’s the person I love most.’

Meanwhile, thousands of Cristiano Ronaldo supporters mobbed an unsuspecting bride at her wedding outside Funchal Cathedral on Saturday.

Rumours suggesting that Ronaldo was getting married to Georgina Rodriguez in Madeira this weekend were wide of the mark as Funchal city centre was swarming with people hoping to catch a glimpse of what would have been one of the biggest celebrity weddings of the year.

However, it turned out that the wedding at Funchal Cathedral was booked for Fabio Ramos and Fatima Nicole Cunha Teixeira, a couple who live in France but returned to their homeland to get married and have absolutely no connection with Portugal’s and Real Madrid’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Father Marcos Goncalves, the parish priest of the cathedral who married the couple, said: ‘I can tell you that they are nothing to do with Cristiano Ronaldo. This is the only wedding taking place here today.’

Ronaldo’s older sister, Elma Aveiro, responded to footage of the large crowd outside the cathedral with a message on social media which read: ‘But why do these people think Ronaldo would get married, when he himself never announced it, anyway? Don’t they realise that the media doesn’t know anything, they just want to know?! And then they invent things. Surreal.’

Large crowds had also gathered outside the Savoy Palace, a luxury five-star hotel in Funchal, after rumours suggested that it would be the venue for Ronaldo’s wedding party.

After the ceremony, Funchal Cathedral posted a picture of the happy couple with the message on its Facebook page: ‘We never saw anything like this here at the cathedral. It was very complicated for the bride to enter the church to get married.

‘Congratulations to the couple Nicole and Fabio. After a lot of confusion on the street with so many journalists and tourists, we finally managed to close the church and celebrate.’

Ronaldo, meanwhile, appeared to see the funny side to the confusion as he responded to Jornal da Madeira’s post of the crowds outside the cathedral with several laughing face emojis.

One member of the wedding party said: ‘Fabio is not Cristiano Ronaldo. This is all crazy. We did not expect anything like this.

‘I don’t think he is going to forget his wedding.’

The grey Rolls-Royce transporting Nicole to her wedding struggled to get to the cathedral due to the unusually large crowd outside.

As it arrived, hundreds of fans swarmed the car as they tried to get a glimpse of the bride they believed was Georgina.

But one member of the wedding party attempted to get the crowd to back away by shouting: ‘This is not Georgina!’

Ronaldo previously said in an interview with Piers Morgan that he and Georgina planned to marry after World Cup.

The 41-year-old made his sixth appearance at a World Cup this summer as Portugal were knocked out by eventual winners Spain in the last 16.

‘I hope to arrive at my wedding with the champion’s trophy,’ Ronaldo said.
