Folk session: Mick Jagger makes surprise pub appearance

Sir Mick Jagger (82) apparently made a surprise appearance at a pub in Oxford. The Rolling Stones frontman reportedly made music together with local students, according to “BBC”. Jagger performed at the “Half Moon” venue during the establishment’s weekly folk session.

A spokesperson for the pub explained to the report that the team was delighted by Sir Mick’s “surprise guest appearance”. The rock star was staying in the city as a guest of Oriel College, together with his partner, former ballerina Melanie Hamrick (38). After dinner with students, a small group went to the pub, where Mick Jagger then gave a spontaneous performance together with his musician colleague Matt Clifford and Oriel College politics lecturer Robert Cheah, the broadcaster reported, citing the college.

That Mick Jagger still has a great desire to be on stage even at 82 was explained by him recently in an interview. On the “BBC” radio show “Tracks of My Years”, he said: “I would very much like to go on tour again. I can’t wait.” At the same time, Jagger tempered expectations: a tour this year is rather unlikely, but they hope for the earliest possible date.

New Album Coming in July

There are currently no concrete plans for a new concert series by the Rolling Stones. The “Paint It Black” artists were last on tour in 2024, as part of their shows for the album “Hackney Diamonds”, released in 2023.

Despite the band members’ advanced age, Jagger regularly emphasizes the importance of fitness and discipline to continue being able to perform on stage. While he can no longer do the same things as he could at 21, he said, he has adapted to different demands.

On July 10, the Rolling Stones will release their new album “Foreign Tongues”. It is the first studio album since “Hackney Diamonds” and includes collaborations with music legends such as Paul McCartney, Robert Smith, and Chad Smith.
