For nearly two decades, Meg White has managed to stay almost completely out of the spotlight, but the rock icon has finally been spotted in public again.

In new photos shared by the Daily Mail, the White Stripes drummer, 51, was seen enjoying a low-key lunch with friends in Detroit, Michigan, on Wednesday, August 7.

Meg tucked her signature long black locks under a large black sun hat for the occasion, sporting a black-and-white striped top and a designer Gucci bag.

Though Meg looked nearly unrecognizable in the sighting — her first since 2009 — there were a few telltale signs that it was, in fact, the famed rocker, namely her Ford car with a red, black and white paint job.

Meg came to fame with her ex-husband Jack White in the 2000s, with the couple’s career only taking off after their four-year marriage ended. Their most notable tracks included “Seven Nation Army” and “Fell in Love with a Girl.” The group also earned six Grammy Awards during their time in the spotlight.

The band is still considered legendary to this day despite not having released new music since their 2007 album Icky Thump, with The White Stripes making their last public appearance on The Conan O’Brien Show in 2009 before confirming their split in 2011.

Other photos taken by the Daily Mail showed Meg walking to and from her car, and enjoying a cigarette with friends after dining on Italian food.

Upon approaching the famously private musician, the outlet reported Meg was “friendly” and “laughed out loud” when asked if she was the well-known drummer. After being complimented on her music, the outlet reports, Meg politely said, “Thank you.”

The Daily Mail also caught Meg leaving her much-talked-about Michigan mansion, which has become known around town for its unusual exterior decor.

The yellow stucco property, which was built in 1905, is covered with giant decorative spiders and bats, with its gardens equally filled with spooky subjects, including plastic skeletons, some of which are outfitted in the flag of the Detroit Tigers baseball team.

Meg’s sighting Wednesday is particularly rare, as the drummer, who was set to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2025 alongside her ex-husband, failed to show, with Jack thanking organizers for the honor on her behalf.
