Hilton charged a Black medical student $225 for a room, then called police when she tried to sleep there after a 13-hour shift
A Black Florida medical student said Orlando Hilton staff called police on her after charging her father’s card $225 for a room she tried to sleep in following a 13-hour shift.
A medical student from Florida named Steffi Casimir took to social media to share how employees at Hilton harassed her due to a late-checkout and additional room charge dispute.
She described the incident in a TikTok video and said it happened on the last day of her medical externship, according to Atlanta Black Star.

She had arranged a noon checkout but stayed at the hospital longer than expected because of surgeries, she said.
She returned to the hotel around 8:30 p.m., still in her scrubs, hoping to rest before driving home.
Casimir said her father told her the hotel had charged his card. She later clarified that the amount was $225, not the roughly $250 she first reported.
She assumed the payment covered an additional night and asked staff whether she could stay and pay any remaining balance.
Casimir said an employee disputed her understanding, called her a liar and told her to gather her belongings and leave.
She acknowledged she became frustrated and told the employee that if she went upstairs, she would not come back down because she believed she had already paid for the night.
She said that she never entered or occupied the room after returning to the hotel.
According to Casimir, the employee threatened to have her removed from the property and called police, leaving her waiting for officers to arrive.
“Now I’m having the police called on me by the front desk after they already charged me the room rate for the night because they couldn’t sell the room,” she said in the video.
Hotel staff allowed her to stay in the room, the arrangement she said she had requested from the start. “So is the life of your everyday successful Black woman,” she said at the end of the video.
In the caption of her video, Casimir wrote: “I’ve never had police called on me before. I felt humiliated, overwhelmed, and deeply disappointed. I find it disgusting and sad that a conversation with so many opportunities for resolution reached that point.”
“I accept responsibility for returning late. @hilton, I’m asking you to review the full incident, explain the charge, and address how this was handled,” she added.
