Andrew Shue announces engagement to Marilee Fiebig after exes Amy Robach, TJ Holmes quietly marry
Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes‘ whirlwind relationship drama that dominated headlines four years ago now is setting up another “happy ending” — their exes, Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig, have announced their engagement.
“We’re very grateful and hopeful,” the Melrose Place alum, 59, told People of his forthcoming nuptials with the immigration attorney, 48, in a story published Wednesday, October 21. “I don’t know how it happened, but there’s a happy ending.”
The announcement comes on the heels of the surprising discovery on October 13 that Shue and Fiebig’s respective ex-spouses, Robach and Holmes, had quietly married on September 19.
Shue and Robach, 53, were still legally married in November 2022 when the Good Morning America coanchor’s love story first broke. Fiebig and Holmes, 49, were still married, too, but a source told People that both previous couples had broken up in August 2022 and there was no overlap in romances.
Talking with People on Wednesday, Shue admitted, “I had to accept my own part in marriage not working out for me and in not understanding myself well enough and not understanding what matters in a relationship well enough to find the right person for me, and that has been an extraordinary gift. Again, I don’t know how it happened, but I can say I’m grateful.”
As In Touch previously reported, Shue and Fiebig grew close in the wake of their exes’ headline-making romance, a connection that began as a friendship and unexpectedly became romantic. After more than three years together, per People, they got engaged this past spring.
Shue connected his unpredictable relationship journey to his work with The Forum, a grassroots initiative to connect Americans to the legislative process.
“It’s one thing to work on projects that you think can help people and change the world,” Shue told the magazine. “The most important project is your family and building a foundation for your kids and creating a home and showing them a loving relationship they can see and experience.” Shue shares three sons; Nate, 30, Aidan, 28, and Wyatt, 23; with ex-wife Jennifer Hageney.
“I had to grow through a lot of pain and a lot of struggle and a lot of humility,” he said. “I think the magic of love is when you go from a need to giving.”
