Nicki Minaj has reflected on her brief stint on Fox News.

The 43-year-old rapper dropped in for an appearance on My View with Lara Trump over the weekend. The Trinidadian rapper, who has been vocal in her support for Donald Trump, urged young Americans to turn out for the upcoming midterm elections and “vote red.”

Speaking directly to younger voters, Nicki declared, “Now is not the time to think that your voice will not be heard. Your voice will not only be heard, but your voice is very necessary right now for the country and for the world.” Nicki’s remarks sparked an onslaught of backlash online.

“We need you guys involved. We need you guys involved more than ever before. This is your country, this is your world. You are the ones that have to reap the benefits of whatever vote decisions we make now,” she said, reports the Irish Star.

Throughout the conversation, Nicki also described the president as “a very authentic person,” claiming that “everyone loves him.”

At one stage, Nicki suggested that Democrats work to silence Black voices and discourage independent thought within the Black community.

She told host Lara, 43, who is the daughter-in-law of President Trump, “For a very long time, Black people specifically feel that they should just vote blue. I would say that the entire country, there’s been a major shift where people are starting to, you know, wake up and see what’s going on and choose differently.”She continued, “And they’re also noticing – which is very important, which is kind of really sad – but they’re noticing that Black people are not allowed, according to Democrats, for the most part, to make a different decision. We’re not allowed to think; we’re not allowed to voice concerns, to make an argument as to why we don’t like a particular candidate.

“And they are seeing in real time if they do, what happens to them. Smear campaigns and just outright nasty behavior from these adults. It just doesn’t look good. And so the Democrats kind of have been just digging their own grave in that way, and they’re not understanding that people can see them.

“These are smart people that can clearly see what’s happening and now they feel, ‘Oh, okay, so you only love me and respect me when I do as you say and don’t ask any questions.’ And no one wants to be treated that way.”

The claim angered Fox News viewers with her opinion, with X users blasting comments like, “WTF is she even talking about? She sounds as dumb as most MAGAts,” and, “She can’t even vote. She should just stay out of politics if she ever wants to resurrect her career.”

There was some positive feedback though. Taking to X the day after the interview aired, one user posted, “@LaraLeaTrump you did amazing your energy was amazing and you showed you actually were intrigued and cared the entire interview. You are appreciated.”

Nicki quote-tweeted the post and replied, “Barbz, show Lara some love. Not only did she do a great interview, but she was very gracious & inviting the entire time. Her & her entire team. Thank you, @LaraLeaTrump & thank you, @FoxNews.”

Lara then posted a screenshot of Nicki’s tweet on her Instagram story, where she wrote, “Thank you, Nicki,” followed by clapping hands emoji and a pink heart emoji. She also included a link to watch the interview in full.
