Keith Urban leaked text message about Nicole Kidman divorce revealed
Keith Urban reportedly hinted at trouble in his marriage to Nicole Kidman months before their split became public.
On the Wednesday, August 19, episode of the Kyle Sandilands Live radio show, the titular Australian host revealed that he spoke with Urban before the divorce made headlines. “He was coming out to Australia,” he said, per Australian outlet Nine. “He’s a good guy.”

Sandilands recalled Urban sending him a text at the time: “I didn’t even put two and two together. He said, ‘Bro, when I get there, we MUST catch up.'” Looking back, Sandilands now believes Urban was subtly reaching out about his marital struggles. “I looked back at that and thought, ‘Aha.’ I didn’t realize what he was saying then.” The two ultimately never met up during the “Days Go By” singer’s visit.
Elsewhere on the show, Sandilands reflected on a previous interview with Urban on his former radio show, The Kyle and Jackie O Show, where the country musician seemed uncomfortable with comments about Kidman’s career.
“I think I said to him, ‘Mate, I can’t watch your wife’s films. I can’t watch her banging these young hotties, they’re too graphic, and I know her as your wife,'” Sandilands recalled. “And he was like, ‘Yeah, next question.’ I was quite shocked.”
The host admitted he sensed something was off but dismissed his instincts at the time, thinking, “There’s something going on there.” In the end, he “dismissed [his] feelings as stupidity” because Urban and Kidman “were such a great couple.”
As for why the couple divorced after 19 years of marriage, Sandilands claimed, “Keith is a really nice guy and Nicole is super sweet as well. Some of these relationships just come to a natural end. When you’re in the spotlight like these two, both super famous people who are really quite private, they don’t air the dirty laundry. They are just two really sweet people … I like them both still very much. I wouldn’t take sides.”

Sandilands’ remarks come shortly after Kidman sparked dating rumors with private equity investor Michael Reinstein. In July 2026, the pair was photographed on vacation in Portofino, Italy, and just days later, driving around Los Angeles in Reinstein’s black Ferrari.
Addressing the photos, a Hollywood insider told gossip columnist Rob Shuter, “Nicole has spent decades proving she knows exactly when she wants to be seen and when she doesn’t. When pictures like these surface, people in the business immediately wonder whether they’re part of the message.”
Another suggested the sightings were anything but accidental, explaining, “This looked less like two people dodging cameras and more like the premiere of Nicole’s next chapter. The Ferrari, the airport pickup, the perfectly framed photos-it all felt cinematic.”
Insiders also noted that the photos were likely meant for Urban to see. “Keith Urban was always going to see those photos. Nicole is still deeply hurt by everything that happened. Friends say she’s moving on, but that doesn’t mean the pain has disappeared. If Keith saw her looking happy, glamorous, and being treated well, nobody around her thinks that’s the worst thing in the world.”
“She hopes he feels a little sting,” a separate source added. “Not because she wants him back, but because she wants him to understand exactly what he lost. After everything she’s been through, she believes he’s earned that feeling.”
Shortly before the photos were published, reports indicated that Urban was “devastated” that Kidman was already moving on with someone else.
“Up until now he still had hopes there might be a chance at a reconciliation. He’s absolutely devastated and is going through that feeling of deep loss all over again,” an insider told New Idea. “It has sent him into a tailspin, and all his friends are keeping a close eye on him. Everyone knows how upset he is, but they’re not going to let this get to him.”
On the other hand, the Daily Mail reported that Urban’s actually “relieved that she’s moved on.” One source said, “Keith was the one who wanted out of the marriage, and he felt guilty about hurting Nicole” before adding that there’s “no jealously” toward Reinstein.
