Aryna Sabalenka appears to have had it with U.S. Open reporters this week.

The No. 1 ranked women’s tennis player is heading into the third round of the fourth and final Grand Slam. Sabalenka, who breezed through the first two matches of the 2026 U.S. Open, looks primed to repeat as champion. However, like most star athletes, she’s been a busy woman.

Sabalenka has a number of endorsements and appearances to make, as do most athletes when they play in a Grand Slam like New York City. It doesn’t mean that Sabalenka isn’t focused on tennis, or isn’t doing her job. She is.

But reporters continue to ask Sabalenka about the “parties” and events she attends. And she’s getting fed up with it.

Sabalenka called out U.S. Open reporters, saying they’re a “joke” for their latest line of questioning to her.

“How are you finding your mood now that the tournament has started? Obviously last week it’s lots of parties and fun and stuff like that…,” a reporter asked.

Sabalenka fired back: “You guys are like a joke. Parties. Fun. Why would you even say that? Why would you even think about that? Like, what kind of question is that? Just because I posted some activities with brands and you think that I’ve been partying?”

The reporter responded: “I’m not suggesting you were partying… I’m saying there are a lot of events and things like that. I’m not saying you go to the parties.”

Aryna wasn’t having it, though: “You literally said that.”

The reporter didn’t back down, either, though: “Excuse me? For everyone who’s unclear, I’m not suggesting that Aryna is having fun at these parties. I’m saying she makes a lot of appearances and there’s a lot to do.”

Sabalenka: “Mhmm. Okay.”

The reporter attempted to clarify: “Now that the tournaments started, do you find you’re getting quite serious and combative?”

Sabalenka finished it with: “Oh yeah, I wasn’t serious before that. Next question. Think before you say stuff.”The 2026 U.S. Open will continue on Thursday.
