Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s eldest daughter, Zahara, received approval from a judge on Monday to legally change her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie, according to PEOPLE.

Pitt and Jolie, who married Aug. 23, 2014, share six children. In addition to Zahara, who’s 21, the family includes twins Knox and Vivienne, 18; Shiloh, 20; Pax, 22; and Maddox, 25. The actors split in 2016, following 12 years together in total, although their messy divorce was only finalized in December 2024.

The seemingly abrupt breakup followed a family flight on a private jet on Sept. 14, 2016. Within days, Jolie had filed for divorce and Pitt was being investigated after allegedly becoming “physical” and “verbally abusive” with one of his kids in view of the others.

The L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services found no abuse, and neither did the FBI.

Both Zahara and Maddox had made requests to drop Pitt from their names — his was to be known as Maddox Chivan Jolie — earlier this year. His change was approved Sept. 14.

Shiloh was the first to seek the name change, and she filed the paperwork on her 18th birthday, May 27, 2024. The move was approved the following August.

PEOPLE reports that Vivienne petitioned to change her name in July, when she turned 18, and her court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 2.

As for Knox, he hasn’t made a permanent name change, but he reportedly dropped Pitt from his name on his high school diploma.

In August, the Ocean’s Eleven star explained to Esquire that he’d recently had a conversation with a friend that “freed” him in thinking that he had something wrong with him.

“I was never suicidal in any way,” the F1 actor said. “It just was not my makeup. In fact, if I have any afflictions, it’s probably being a congenital optimist. Which has helped many times, and it’s also gotten me — I’ve walked foolishly head-on into a Mack truck because of my optimism.”

But there was “one little period” when he, in fact, had felt suicidal ideation.

“In that one little period, I just thought — I just couldn’t — just didn’t see a way out,” Pitt said. “The pain was so oppressive that — I wasn’t going to act on this, but I could feel — I could feel the cold steel of the bullet in my head, and it felt like relief.”

Since December 2023, Pitt, 62, has dated Ines de Ramon.
