Jason Momoa looks unrecognizable in head-to-toe green makeup and prosthetic fangs for chilling movie role

Jason Momoa is in his movie makeup era. Just one month after the premiere of Supergirl—in which he plays the lead antagonist, Lobo—Momoa made his debut as Blanka, a green-skinned mutant, in a teaser for the live-action Street Fighter movie.The clip, shared by Paramount Pictures on July 30, features Momoa as a formidable green monster opposite co-star Andrew Koji as the character Ryu. As Koji’s character is thrust into a cage at an underground prison brawl, Momoa’s Blanka can be heard growling off screen. Seconds later, Blanka drags another inmate out of the cage, demonstrating his electric powers. “The beast is unleashed,” the film’s official Instagram account captioned the special look.The Aquaman star is almost unrecognizable as he leaps into the cage and tackles Koji’s character to the ground. Though his onscreen appearances are brief, Momoa’s face looks fierce superimposed over a burly green body with pointed fangs and sharp claws. The ferocious character also features shaggy black-and-orange hair that matches his tattered pants, and a large necklace adorned with teeth. Needless to say, this doesn’t seem like his first cage battle.Though Blanka is typically described as a “docile” character, per the Street Fighter Wiki page, he’s known to be ferocious when provoked. Tapping into the latter, Momoa’s onscreen transformation is nothing short of intimidating. Incensed by the uproar of the crowd in the video, Blanka leaps across the cage, scaling the walls and delivering an electric shock across the metal barrier. Though the clip ends before we see the outcome of the battle, it’s clear that Momoa’s character is not going down without a fight.
Between his punk makeup as Lobo in Supergirl and his head-to-toe monochrome makeover as Blanka, Momoa has entered a new era of striking movie characters, and we’re ready for every head-turning transformation—prosthetic fangs and all.
The live-action Street Fighter adaptation is set to debut in theaters on October 16.
