JD Vance’s marriage keeps making headlines, but Marco Rubio’s love story is winning over fans

In the current political scenario, JD Vance and Usha Vance’s marriage has been heavily criticized by critics. The reasons have varied over the years, with critics often targeting Usha Vance for her Indian heritage. At other times, critics have attacked him for holding views that differ from those of some conservatives.

Interestingly, Marco Rubio, another senior member of the Trump administration, remains popular among many MAGA supporters. He has been married to his wife, Jeanette Dousdebes Rubio, despite the pressures of political life.

JD Vance’s Marriage Draws More Criticism Than Marco Rubio’s

JD Vance married Usha Vance in 2014, but the far-right believers have not widely accepted their marriage due to the second lady’s Indian roots. As a result, they have time and again racially targeted her on social media.

According to ABC News, Usha Vance became a frequent target of far-right figures, with criticism intensifying after her marriage to Vance. Nick Fuentes, a Republican commentator, had previously bashed JD Vance for marrying her and giving their children “Indian names.”

“Do we really expect that the guy who has an Indian wife and named their kid Vivek is going to support white identity?” Fuentes asked. In the video, he shamed Vance for being the wrong person to be a defender of “white identity” or “American identity.”

Another controversy surrounding his marriage arose after he publicly hugged Erika Kirk during a TPUSA event in 2025. As a result, it sparked rumors of the two having an affair.

On the other hand, Marco Rubio’s marriage to Jeanette Rubio has largely stayed out of controversy, as the couple has been married since 1998. In a separate report from ABC News, the two shared that they first met in high school, and she was swooned by her future husband’s sense of humor and personality.

She recalled, “Marco was different. He had a depth about him that for me, that’s I think what struck me about him.” The two dated for seven years, and one day the Secretary of State proposed to her after he finished law school.

Rubio mentioned that he popped the big question at the top of the Empire State Building because of her favorite film, Sleepless in Seattle. The former cheerleader said, “he decided, ‘Let me, you be creative,’ and so he tried to put something that I liked at the time, and incorporate it in.”

Though she said yes, she was taken aback when he took the engagement ring back because he was afraid it’d fall off the building. The pair eventually got married in 1998, and have been together ever since. Interestingly, one of the reasons they are so loved is their awkward pictures together, which have often made social media users laugh.

From choosing an odd photo to post on Valentine’s Day to awkwardly standing together at the White House, fans loved that it still gave an impression of a first date instead of a couple married for 28 years.

JD Vance Stands By His Wife Despite Endless Racist Attacks

During an episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, the vice president addressed the persistent online bashing of his wife, but he has chosen to stay right beside her. “Look, I love my wife so much. I love her because she’s who she is,” he confessed. “Obviously, she’s not a white person, and we’ve been accused, attacked by some white supremacists over that. But I just, I love Usha.”

He sang her praises, calling her a great mother to his children and an outstanding lawyer as well. Vance said, “I’m so proud of her. But yes, her experience has given me some perspective on the way in which it’s really hard for working families in this country.”
