The Chicago Bears’ 27-7 win against the Philadelphia Eagles was the first time in quarterback Caleb Williams’ NFL career that he missed a game due to injury. It was also the first time since 2023 that Case Keenum started an NFL game.

Keenum was making throws like Williams throughout the entire game. Chicago powered wide receiver Luther Burden III into the end zone on Keenum’s first touchdown pass, which was also one of the Bears’ two fourth-down conversions of the night. Keenum’s second touchdown pass was a 41-yard score to Kalif Raymond.  Despite coming into this game as the leading receiver for the Bears, it was Raymond’s first touchdown of the season. He was also the leading receiver in this game with six receptions for 90 yards.

Late in the fourth quarter, Keenum also had his first rushing touchdown since 2019, and only the seventh rushing touchdown of his career to make it 27-7 for the Bears with just 7:19 left in the game. With this victory, Keenum became the second-oldest quarterback in Chicago history to win a game

After Keenum’s performance, it will be hard to put him back on the bench for Chicago’s Week 4 matchup against the New York Jets. Following the game, head coach Ben Johnson was asked about who will start next Sunday.

“We’ll have a discussion as a coaching staff and we’ll see where we need to go from here,” Johnson said, “but I said it last week and I’ll say it again: There was a reason why Tyson ended training camp as our No. 2 quarterback.”If this was Keenum’s one and only start this season, it was certainly a memorable one for the 38-year-old quarterback.
