Nicole Kidman has given fans a rare glimpse at her natural locks while enjoying a luxury European getaway with her sister Antonia Kidman.

The Australian actress, 59, looked relaxed and carefree during her sun-soaked stay in Portofino, Italy, where she stayed at the famed Splendido, A Belmond Hotel, with her family in July.

Nicole appeared to embrace her natural locks during the Italian escape, wearing her strawberry blonde hair loose rather than opting for the polished hairstyles she regularly wears on the red carpet.

In one photo, Nicole was perched on an outdoor lounge as she showed off her naturally textured strawberry blonde locks.

Another snap showed her sporting her hair in a softly styled high ponytail.

Nicole simply captioned her post with four sun emojis while tagging the hotel she stayed at.

The Oscar winner spent time with Antonia on the Italian Riviera, with the sisters also taking to the water during their European holiday.

The getaway also doubled as a celebration for Antonia’s 55th birthday, with the close-knit sisters marking the occasion aboard a yacht off the Portofino coast.

Nicole was previously pictured relaxing poolside at the lavish property in a pale blue shirt and matching shorts, accessorising with sunglasses, Chanel flats and a neck scarf as she sipped on an Aperol Spritz.

The Practical Magic 2 star was also pictured spending time with businessman Michael Reinstein, sparking romance rumours following her divorce from Keith Urban.

It made for a markedly different look from many of Nicole’s recent public appearances, where her hair has been styled in everything from long blonde waves to polished updos.

The Hollywood star has rarely showcased her natural hair in films or on the red carpet since the early days of her career and has frequently worn wigs for roles and public appearances.

At the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, eagle-eyed fans noticed Nicole’s natural hair and the lace front of her wig were visible in red carpet photos, prompting chatter online.

More recently, Nicole dipped into her wig collection for Paris Fashion Week in January.

A closer look at her straightened locks showed the tell-tale sign of a wig positioned just behind the actress’ hairline, blending in with her real hair.

Nicole admitted on Channel Seven’s Sunrise in May last year that she ‘loves changing her hair’ and uses hairpieces to achieve new looks.

‘As you know, I love changing my hair,’ she said.

Nicole also turned more than a few heads when she stepped out with a dramatic new look at the Met Gala in May 2025.

‘For the Met Gala, everyone was questioning if I had chopped my hair off. But no, I didn’t,’ she said.
