Paige Bueckers trolling herself next to 7-foot-3 Ziyu Zhang is internet gold

Team USA kicked off the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in commanding fashion, rolling to a 94-61 victory over China on Friday. And while Team USA looked good in the win, the internet couldn’t help but quickly notice another aspect of the matchup that jumped out: China’s 7-foot-3 center Ziyu Zhang.

At various points in Friday’s game, several players spent time trying to navigate around the 19-year-old who checks in just one inch shorter than Victor Wembanyama. Among the moments that quickly went viral involving Team USA players and Zhang, none were better than those featuring Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark.

The reactions of Clark and Bueckers quickly made waves. And as seen in the photos posted by FIBA Basketball, not only was Bueckers in awe of Zhang’s height, but she even trolled herself a bit by seemingly comparing her own height to Zhang’s.Fortunately for Bueckers, the height difference between her and China’s center didn’t factor much into her own production during the win. The Dallas Wings star logged the second-most minutes for Team USA, while tying for the team-high in points scored (14) and shooting 6-of-9 from the field. Bueckers also tacked on four assists and two steals.
