Shailene Woodley just walked her first Emmys red carpet in nearly a decade. On September 14, the actress stepped out at Los Angeles’s Peacock Theater wearing the most dramatic flared trousers we’ve ever seen.

Designed by the label’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, Woodley’s Balenciaga couture ensemble debuted on the runway back in July. Complete with a periwinkle halter top that plunged all the way down to her ribcage, it also featured gold wide-leg pants covered in crystals and sequins. Burgundy elbow-length gloves, a pair of slingbacks, and a colorful statement necklace by Howl Jewelry topped off her look.

Woodley, who just won her first Emmy for her role in Hulu’s Paradise, wore her long brown hair in a low ponytail.

The last time that Woodley attended the Emmys was back in 2017, when she was up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for Big Little Lies. She opted for a striking backless gown in a shade of emerald green. Woodley styled the velvet number with gold jewelry.

The Descendants star, 34, officially received her Emmy on September 6, accepting the award in a Brandon Maxwell minidress. The white scoop-neck frock included decorative seams and a flared skirt. Woodley accessorized with a diamond and emerald necklace—also from Howl—completed her ensemble.

“Mom, this is so cool,” Woodley said onstage, per Deadline. “I just feel so lucky to do what we do and to be a part of the circus with all of you amazing traveling storytelling clowns.”

Speaking to People about her role in the post-apocalyptic series Paradise, she said: “Annie and I are actually very different, which was fun to play somebody that was very different than who I am.”

“I think the one point of relation is we’re both quite resilient, but the way that we practice that resiliency is different,” she added. “I’m an emotional roller coaster sometimes and Annie is quite linear, I think, in her approach and practical.”
