Taylor Swift and Blake Lively have ‘virtually no relationship’ amid ultimatum claims
Insiders close to Taylor Swift and Blake Lively have claimed the former best friends now have “virtually no relationship” after an over 10-year-long friendship.

Swift and Lively, both 36, first spent time together in Australia in 2015. The pair hit it off, with Swift eventually taking on the role as the godmother to Lively’s three daughters with her husband, Ryan Renyolds. The Opalite singer is apparently no longer a godmother to James, Inez and Betty as she “doesn’t feel it’s healthy or realistic to maintain a close relationship with the children” amid her axed friendship with Lively and Reynolds.
The insider continued, telling the Daily Mail that “Taylor doesn’t believe it’s fair to anyone involved – especially the kids – to put them in the middle of such a strained situation.” This news comes amid the allegation that Lively gave an ultimatum to Swift concerning her absence from the 2025 Super Bowl.

Lively and Swift’s friendship allegedly began to fall apart as the Gossip Girl alum was in the midst of a legal battle with her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. The actress filed a suit in December 2024 against Baldoni, 42, accusing him of sexual harassment and of conducting a public smear campaign against her.
During the suit, texts between Swift and Lively were submitted as evidence. Lively is accused of using the pop star’s clout as a tool to gain more control over It Ends With Us.
Baldoni’s team also accused Lively of threatening to leak “private text messages of a personal nature” between the two women unless Swift made a public statement supporting her.
Swift allegedly texted Lively, “By the way, if Justin was strategic, he would be like ‘No Taylor Swift in the trailer.’ Because that gives you more power over the film, that’s your ally, not his.” Swift’s song “my tears ricochet” is featured in It Ends With Us.
Lively then commended Swift, who she referred to as her “best friend,” for ‘“think[ing] like the actual Roman Empire” in a reply. The actress also referred to Swift as one of her “dragons” in a message to Baldoni in which she compared herself to Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones.
The actress also allegedly threatened to release texts between herself and Swift after Swift snubbed her at the 2025 Super Bowl. The pair had attended the previous year’s game together, but Lively was nowhere to be found in 2025.
Lively’s lawyers allegedly issued an ultimatum to Swift, saying that she would expose their messages if Swift did not post “So sad, my bestie couldn’t come to the Super Bowl” on social media.
A source close to Lively stated, “Blake has never threatened to leak Taylor’s personal or private text messages.”
