‘Dangerous and violent’ rapist jailed for 20 years
A “dangerous and violent” man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for a string of rapes and assaults.
Aaron Purewal, 32, of no fixed abode, was found guilty of 10 charges against a single victim after an earlier trial at Bradford Crown Court and, on Monday, was sentenced to the prison term and a further five years on licence.

Purewal’s victim – who cannot be named for legal reasons – said she was “still trying to understand who I am after what happened”.
“I feel disgusted by what happened to me. I often feel dirty, despite knowing that none of this was my fault,” she told the court in a victim statement.
“I felt powerless. I remember screaming and shouting and trying to fight him off and make him stop. The impact of those experiences has never fully left me.”
Det Con Emma Moist praised the victim’s courage in coming forward.
“Purewal is a dangerous and violent man, and this sentence reflects the gravity of his actions,” she said.
