Donald Trump launches mad rant about time before seemingly editing Truth Social post
The president launched an angry, nearly 400-word post targeting a MAGA senator about changes to daylight saving time, in which he claimed the clocks’ changing was bad for people’s health.
In an extremely long 385-word tirade on Truth Social, the president also directed his enormous frustration at Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton for threatening a bill to make daylight saving time a permanent fixture.

“Republicans in the Senate have to get moving on what I call the ‘No More Changing of Clocks Act,’ officially known as The Sunshine Protection Act, a ridiculous clock-changing process that takes place twice a year, costs our Country a fortune, is bad for Crime, stress on people, Sports, and just about everything else you can imagine,” he began.
The post also sparked confusion as it appeared it may have been edited six hours after it was first posted with the words ‘Edited 02 Oct’ with a time stamp clearly visible before it disappeared. In the post while claiming that the clocks changing was bad for people’s health, Trump also said that not changing them would “help Decrease Robbery and Murder Rates, Reduce Car Accidents (especially those involving Pedestrians!).”

Later on in his lengthy rant, the president targeted Cotton, adding, “Unfortunately, it’s being held up by Senator Tom Cotton, of Arkansas, for reasons unknown. People are sick and tired of having to change their Clocks twice a year.
“Even most farmers would rather have additional time in the evening to harvest their crops. It is foolish, inconvenient, and, in some cases, very costly.”
Trump ended his almost 400-word post with, “….But importantly, with a 100% approval rating, is that NOBODY wants to change their Clocks twice a year. This is an issue that Republicans, Democrats, and Independents can unite behind!
While this is clearly an issue that means a lot to the president, despite his list of positives for ending the changing of the clocks, Cotton has also repeatedly given his own compelling reasons for opposing permanent daylight saving time.
In a speech in October 2025, Cotton said, “The darkness of permanent Daylight Savings Time would be especially harmful for schoolchildren and working Americans.
“As we saw in 1974, kids would either walk to school in the pitch black or schools would have to push back start times. The choice would be between danger on the one hand, and disruption on the other.”
He added, “Meanwhile, construction workers, farmers, and others who rise before the sun or need the sun to work would be penalized. These workers might go three, four, even five hours in the morning without seeing the sun, which would hurt their quality of life and potentially their safety in the workplace.”
The Sunshine Protection Act has also been opposed by other Senate Republicans, including Montana Sen. Steve Daines, who highlighted that in Western U.S. states, the sun would not rise until around 9:30 a.m. in the winter.
