The team behind Heroes reassembled to remember Hayden Panettiere.

On Tuesday, Aug. 25, the cast of the hit NBC series shared that they reunited in honor of costar Panettiere, who died on Aug. 16 at age 36.

Jimmy Jean-Louis, who played René (a.k.a. “the Haitian”) in the series, shared photos of himself and his castmates on Instagram, writing that the “reunion to celebrate the life of Hayden was deeply emotional.”

“There was sadness in our hearts, but also so much love, gratitude, and warmth as we remembered the beautiful moments shared and the lasting impact of a life that touched so many,” Jean-Louis, 58, captioned the post. “Au revoir Hayden.”The reunion featured appearances from many of Panettiere’s colleagues, whom she worked with on the four-season superhero series from 2006 to 2010. Masi Oka, Santiago Cabrera, Greg Grunberg, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Jack Coleman and Zachary Quinto (who joined via a video call) were among those present for the gathering.

Writer and producer Bryan Fuller also shared photos from the gathering, calling Panettiere — who played cheerleader Claire Bennet in the series — “No. 1 on the call sheet and No. 1 in our hearts and memories.”

“We shared stories of Hayden’s light that shined on all of our lives,” he wrote. “Rest in peace, Hayden.”

Panettiere’s rep confirmed news of her death on Aug. 16, sharing a statement on behalf of her father, Alan “Skip” Panettiere. A spokesperson for the Greenville Police Department later said that the actress was found unresponsive and “the preliminary investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.”

Since the news of her death, several colleagues and fans have paid tribute to the late actress. Oka, who played Hiro Nakamura on Heroes, wrote on X that he was “absolutely heartbroken.”

“I had the privilege of working closely with her, and I’ll always remember her for her beautiful spirit, immense talent, and the joyful energy she brought to everything she did and the people around her,” he shared. “She was way wiser beyond her years and now gone too soon… My heart goes out to her family and everyone who loved her. Rest in peace, Hayden.”

Series creator Tim Kring wrote an essay for Variety, published on Aug. 18, calling her “a delight to work with, professional, joyful and willing to go out on a limb and experiment with a scene.”

“As a showrunner, I have come to appreciate how rare it is to cross paths with a talent like Hayden’s. But more importantly, I will remember her as a kind and gentle person who was always a joy and an inspiration to work with,” Kring wrote.
