Kai Trump breaks down in tears during first week of college

Kai Trump seemed to have a hard time adjusting as she settled into her first week at the University of Miami.

Kai, 19, began her freshman year at the Florida school, where she is a member of the women’s golf team, late last month, and she documented her emotional final days at home and initial experience at school in a new video shared to her YouTube channel.

The teen struggled with leaving her home in Jupiter, Florida, and was seen breaking down into tears while having to say goodbye to her family and friends.

In the new vlog posted this week, Kai captured herself sobbing while driving home from the golf course the day before she left for school.

‘It’s just really sad that I have to say goodbye to everyone today,’ Kai said, her eyes filled with tears.

‘I’m not a very emotional person at all, so this is like really weird for me to cry, I’ve only cried a few times. I think knowing that I have to say goodbye to everyone tonight really, really sucks,’ President Donald Trump’s granddaughter admitted.

‘I don’t have to say goodbye to my mom tomorrow, but [saying goodbye to] everybody else [tonight] is sad. I’m struggling right now, just thinking about it,’ she said, adding that she was ‘excited’ for her next chapter but ’emotional’ about it all.

She also included footage of herself hanging out with her friends for the final time, before it cut to the first night in her new Miami apartment.

Kai’s First College Week Goes From Bad to Worse

Kai explained that she didn’t really film much of her first day of college, as she was too ‘sad’ after saying goodbye to her family.

The 19-year-old went on to show what the first week was like, as she ran from golf practice to athletic meetings to class.

At one point, her friend Emma came to visit her at her apartment, and she brought Kai tons of frozen food, as the teen claimed that she ‘hadn’t eaten in three days.’

‘It’s all pre-cooked so she doesn’t have to do anything crazy,’ Emma said.

‘She’s living off of diet sodas, so I got her fruit and prosciutto and we got her some pasta and bread and stuff, like basic foods, she’s basically living off of diet soda.’

The two girls later explored and shopped around Miami.

Kai’s first week at school only got worse when she announced in the vlog that she had come down with a bad case of Strep throat and had to go back home to Jupiter for a few days.

‘I got sick with Strep on Wednesday, my first week of school,’ she told the camera.

Kai Rushes Home After Falling Sick at College

‘I came all the way back to Jupiter because I was so sick I needed my mom to nurse me back to health,’ she said.

By the end of the video, she was back at school and spending time with her fellow golf team members.

Kai is the eldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr and his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump. The couple share five children, including Kai, together.

Her emotional first week comes after she jokingly lamented about having to do her own household chores.

In her last vlog, she shared footage of herself and her mom, Vanessa, shopping for her new apartment at Target.

As they strolled through the aisles, Vanessa announced to the camera that Kai would have to purchase household supplies since she’ll be ‘cleaning her own apartment’ now that she’s moving out of the home she grew up in.

Kai joked that she was going to make her mom come do chores for her, but Vanessa wasn’t having it.

‘No, I’m calling her down, like, “Hey Mom, my bathroom’s dirty,”‘ Kai said with a laugh.

‘She is going to learn how to do that, or else it’ll just stay a mess,’ Vanessa insisted.

At one point, her mom added Dawn dish soap to the cart, telling the camera that Kai would need to wash her own dishes.

In response, a disgruntled Kai joked that she didn’t like shopping anymore.

Kai’s mom, Vanessa, revealed that she was battling breast cancer back in May, and in June, she shared that she had undergone surgery and was preparing for the second stage of her medical treatment.

In a recent interview with Fox News, Kai shared new insight into how the illness has impacted their family, admitting that it’s been particularly difficult in the weeks leading up to her departure for college.

‘It was emotional, there was a lot of crying in the week leading up [to me leaving for school],’ Kai shared during the interview.

Kai Reveals Emotional Toll of Mom’s Cancer Battle

‘[Me and my mom] would just be driving and we would just start crying together,’ Kai went on.

Kai added that she was ‘very lucky’ to be able to spend so much time with mom this summer, and branded her cancer battle as a ‘blessing in disguise’ since it gave them a chance to go to treatments together.

‘I was very lucky to spend a lot of time with her over the summer, because of cancer and going to treatments with her,’ Kai shared.

‘It was a blessing in disguise, because I was able to spend extra time with her that I would normally probably spend on the golf course.

‘It was nice to spend those extra hours with her throughout the day before going to college.’

During the interview, the college golfer also gave an update on how her mom was feeling.

‘My mom, she’s doing a lot better,’ Kai said. ‘Kind of after treatment, she wasn’t feeling very good … but she’s getting a lot better now.’
