LA DoorDash driver follows a whispered ‘psst, over here’ to a window. Then she realizes the customer is a kid and an adult inside starts yelling

A Los Angeles DoorDash driver made a hasty exit from a residential drop-off after a customer reportedly asked her to pass their food through a window. The request turned a routine delivery into an unexpected covert operation.

Creator Amber Marie (@lifewithambermarie) recounted the incident in a TikTok video, explaining that she had picked up an Auntie Anne’s order while charging her car at a local mall. The order reportedly contained sealed baked goods.

While Marie was en route, the customer reportedly sent special instructions asking her to skip the front entrance and deliver the food straight to a window instead.

A popped-out window screen was her only landmark

Upon arriving at the address, Marie noted that it was a sketchy neighborhood and the complex had several identical duplexes. On top of that, the delivery details reportedly listed no apartment number, leaving her confused. To help, the customer had sent a photo showing a popped-out window screen as a reference point. It’s not the first time a DoorDash address left a driver uneasy.

While searching the exterior of the property, Marie noticed someone waving and quietly signaling to get her attention from an open frame. “I see somebody’s hand waving out a window, and they’re like, ‘Psst, over here. Over here, psst.’ Like whispering to me, trying to get my attention,” Marie recalled.

When she approached, she realized the customer was a child attempting to retrieve the snacks quietly. “I realized I was delivering to a child who possibly should not have been getting Auntie Anne’s sugary treats,” Marie remarked.

An unexpected interruption prompted a quick exit

As Marie tiptoed forward to pass the Auntie Anne’s bag through the opening, the package became momentarily caught on the screen. And before she could fully pull away, an adult inside the residence reportedly noticed the interaction and began shouting.

“Inside I heard: ‘What are you doing?! Who’s that?!’ And I was like, oh my god! Oh my god, somebody’s going to kick my a**. I got so scared, and she was like, ‘Run! Run!’” At this point, the child was holding the food and urged Marie to leave immediately.

Marie then hurried back to her vehicle and left before any confrontation with the adult inside. Not every DoorDash order makes it into the customer’s hands, as one paralyzed man’s out-of-reach order showed.

At the end of her video, Marie laughed as she asked, “Why is it always me? What’s up with DoorDash always giving me the most interesting orders of the day?”
