Lindsay Clancy’s attorney claimed in court on Friday, Aug. 7 that a prosecutor was caught on a hot mic saying “shut her up” the day before, when Clancy became emotional as testimony about her youngest child’s autopsy was being presented.

“This is not like ‘Handmaid’s Tale.’ You can’t tape her mouth shut,” Reddington told Judge William Sullivan, who had requested a sidebar before the testimony resumed, per footage shared by WBZ-TV/CBS News Boston.

Prosecution lawyers said they had seen the clip and claimed that the prosecutor was saying “shut it off,” referring to taking the autopsy photos off the screen.

Before the lunch break Friday, the judge appeared to address the issue, warning that inappropriate or disruptive comments would not be tolerated.

“If anybody is found to make those [comments], they will be immediately escorted out and barred,” Sullivan said, per the news station. “There are microphones all around, so if I get a report of that, there’s going to be some serious issues and serious problems … There’s going to be no warnings, no yellow card. You’re out.”

On Thursday, Aug. 6, Clancy could be heard sobbing and was taken out of the courtroom for a recess as Massachusetts state medical examiner Kimberley Springer testified about graphic photos from her 8-month-old son Callan’s autopsy.

Clancy fatally strangled Callan and her two other children, 3-year-old Dawson and 5-year-old Cora, with exercise bands at her family’s Duxbury, Mass., home in January 2023. She has pleaded not guilty to murder, claiming she lacked criminal responsibility because of postpartum psychosis and overmedication.
