Donald Trump is expected to headline the finale of one of his administration’s flagship patriotic events this week, but organizers are reportedly making a last-minute push to avoid rows of empty seats.

According to The Daily Beast, Freedom 250—the MAGA-aligned organization behind the Patriot Games and other events marking America’s 250th anniversary—has been sending repeated emails urging people to attend Tuesday’s finale in Ohio, where Trump is scheduled to appear.

Urgent push for attendees

The Patriot Games were unveiled by Trump in December as a nationwide competition featuring one male and one female high school athlete from every state and U.S. territory.

The four-day event brings together 120 competitors between the ages of 14 and 17, with $250,000 in college scholarships on the line.

As the televised finale approaches, organizers have intensified efforts to attract spectators.

One promotional email encourages recipients to RSVP immediately, promising an evening featuring President Donald J. Trump, student athletes competing for scholarships and a nationally televised ESPN on ABC prime-time broadcast.

Trump originally described the Patriot Games as an “unprecedented” celebration of America’s 250th birthday.

The announcement quickly sparked comparisons to The Hunger Games, with critics drawing parallels between teenagers competing in a nationally televised event.

Competition already underway

The games began over the weekend with participants competing before family members, invited guests and officials.

Events have included dodgeball, kickball and a military-inspired endurance course featuring tire throws, monkey bars, climbing nets and balance obstacles.

Earlier reporting also indicated that applicants were required to submit audition videos, promote the competition on social media and answer questions about what America means to them. Participants also agreed to extensive filming as part of the television production.

Trump’s appearance comes shortly after the Great American State Fair, another Freedom 250 event that drew criticism over sparse attendance and its heavily MAGA-themed presentation.
