The victims of Pembroke Pines police’s newest abuse case can’t speak up for themselves — they quack.

Detectives are investigating a video circulating on social media of a man “abusing and killing several ducks in our city,” the Pembroke Pines Police Department announced in a Sept. 3 Facebook post.

According to police, the department was made aware of the incident — which occurred on Aug. 30 near University Drive and Northwest 13th Street — on Thursday morning.

“The actions within the video are illegal and cruel. … Crimes against people or animals will not be tolerated in our city,” said PPPD.

Depicted in the clip is an unidentified man cornering an adult duck against a fence before forcibly stepping down on it.

He’s then seen moving the duck off to the side and stepping on it again.

A second video taken moments later shows a group of ducklings scattering as the man unsuccessfully attempts to step on them.

Pembroke Pines police have not released the man’s age or name as of Sept. 3 but say his actions could land him a felony charge.

“Potential charges may change as more information becomes available, but the intentional act of killing an animal through cruel or excessive pain would meet the standards for aggravated animal cruelty,” spokesperson Amanda Conwell told the Pembroke Pines News.
