Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the time he thought someone had died aboard Air Force One, only to stand over the supposed corpse until it woke up 90 minutes later.

Rubio recalled the episode on the Katie Miller Podcast, saying he and other officials, who were returning from a trip to China, spent 90 minutes debating their next move. The secretary declined to identify the individual who was reportedly sound asleep in one of the aircraft’s conference rooms.

“We spent about 90 minutes sort of debating should we make a move? Should I call the doc? Should we deal with this? Because it’s embarrassing if you wake them up. ‘Oh, I was just sleeping’. But if they were dead, like what do you do? You have a dead body on the plane. Who’s going to what do you deal with that? Luckily, the person was fine,” Rubio said. It comes after Karoline Leavitt accidentally humiliated Donald Trump as critics asked about his ‘diaper’.

Continuing the discussion about the “body” on Air Force One, Rubio said the individual was also able to sleep through “a lot of noise,” adding they weren’t “responding to any of the stimulus. And the breathing pattern was difficult.”

Users on X had several theories about who the unidentified person could be.

“Sleeping like he was drugged on a couch? On a plane from China??” one wrote, sharing an old picture of Vice President JD Vance.

“The person was probably Mitch McConnell,” a second commented. “Donald Trump, tell Rubio I would’ve just woken him up I don’t care… who cares if it’s embarrassing,” a third added.

One person within the administration who’s known for frequently dozing off is President Trump himself, however Rubio did not offer additional details about the sleeper.

It comes over a month after a heated exchange between Rubio and Rep. Ted Lieu, a Democrat from California, during a congressional hearing regarding President Trump’s tendency to nod off during public appearances, such as cabinet meetings.

In a video from a December cabinet meeting, Lieu ordered Rubio to focus on the president, whose eyes were closed.

During the House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing, the Democratic congressman questioned, “Secretary Rubio, have you been at more than one meeting where President Trump has fallen asleep?”

Rubio denied that allegation. “I’ve never seen him fall asleep,” he replied. “On the contrary, the guy doesn’t sleep, which is a big problem,” he said, saying that Trump had contacted him early in the morning.

“Secretary Rubio, I’m going to show you, in a moment, a video that shows you just lied to Congress.”

The cabinet meeting from last month is then shown on video. Once more, Trump is seen dozing off while Rubio talks about issues related to the war.
