Registered sex offender held for sniffing butts and violating probation again

(KTLA) – A California man with a history of arrests for sniffing women’s rear ends in public has been arrested again.

Glendale Police said they received a call about a suspicious man shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Friday at an unidentified business on Glenoaks Boulevard.

The man was seen “hunkered down” in the aisles and appeared to be “sniffing someone out,” according to police.

As officers were finishing up their response to that call, they got another from the Marshalls at Brand Boulevard and Broadway reporting a similar incident.

Officers reviewed surveillance video for both locations and identified the suspect as Calese Crowder, 39.

Crowder was located shortly after that in the 100 block of S. Brand, police said.

He was arrested for violating his parole and will remain in custody until his hearing, according to Glendale police.

Crowder, a registered sex offender, was arrested in August 2025 for a “butt-sniffing” incident inside a store in Burbank, roughly a month after he was taken into custody for a similar offense at Burbank’s Empire Center shopping center.

In that second incident, police responded to a Nordstrom Rack following reports of a suspicious man loitering in the women’s department.

Surveillance footage showed Crowder following a female shopper inside the Nordstrom Rack, crouching behind her, and “engaging in lewd behavior by inappropriately sniffing her buttocks,” according to Burbank police.

He was later located and arrested at a nearby Walmart.

At the time of his arrest in those incidents, Crowder was on parole for a series of similar incidents in Burbank and Glendale dating back to 2021.

Crowder was ordered to serve 135 days in Los Angeles County Jail in September 2025 after admitting to violating his parole, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.

Crowder was also arrested in August 2023 after a woman named Michaela Witter posted a video to TikTok showing him crouching behind her inside a Barnes & Noble in Burbank and appearing to sniff her backside. When confronted, Witter said he claimed he was tying his shoes. The video later led to his arrest.
