President Donald Trump said, “I’m allowed to destroy the country,” during a bizarre press event he held last Friday to speak about the Supreme Court’s ruling against his international tariffs.

“I’m even allowed to impose a foreign country-destroying embargo. I can embargo. I can do anything I want,” Trump said during the event, Mediaite reported. “I am allowed to cut off any and all trade or business with that same country. In other words, I can destroy the trade. I can destroy the country! … I’m allowed to destroy the country.”

Media outlets and political figures repeated Trump’s weird claim. California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), a frequent critic who often mocks Trump, shared video of Trump’s statement on X and wrote, “What an inspiring message.”

During the press event, Trump also fantasized about a “powerful, strong man” wanting to kiss him.

Trump referred to the conservative Supreme Court justices who ruled against his tariffs as “embarrassment[s] to their families” and “fools and lapdogs for the Republicans in name only” (RINOs) and the radical-left Democrats, adding, “They’re very unpatriotic and disloyal to our constitution.”
