Rep. Tom Tiffany hospitalized after plane forced to make an emergency water landing
Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.) is in the hospital after his plane was forced to make an emergency water landing on Saturday.
The gubernatorial hopeful wrote in a post on X that he was returning home from the La Crosse County Lincoln Day Dinner when the plane he was traveling in lost power as it approached the Wausau Downtown Airport.

“The pilot made an emergency water landing in Lake Wausau,” Tiffany wrote. “After landing, we called 911. As the plane began to submerge, we exited the aircraft and swam to a shallow area, where we waited until emergency responders reached us by boat.” It comes as a mystery 9/11 video appears on YouTube showing the second plane hitting the tower at a new angle.

He went on to express his gratitude to the pilot, the Wausau Fire Department and all the other first responders who raced to the scene after the emergency call went out.
“They got us safely off the water and transported us to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where we received excellent care,” he wrote. “Thankfully, both the pilot and I sustained only minor injuries. God was watching over us tonight, and I am incredibly grateful to be here in the hospital with my wife, Chris, by my side. An experience like this reminds you just how precious life is.”
Tiffany was traveling in a small, four-seat, single-engine plane. It’s not clear what caused it to lose power.
Tiffany faces moderate Democrat in race for Wisconsin governor
The Republican, who has been a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump for years, is set to face off against moderate Democrat David Crowley in November’s midterm election after both recently won their primary elections.
Tiffany received Trump’s endorsement back in January, which caused his top Republican rival to drop out of the race less than a day later. Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann congratulated Tiffany on the Trump endorsement and wished him “great success” in November.
Trump, in his endorsement, said Tiffany “has always been at my side.” And Tiffany has. A fierce Trump loyalist since his election to Congress in 2020, Tiffany has constantly voted in favor of Trump’s policies.
Before that, he served for just over seven years in the Wisconsin Legislature, where he was a firm backer of former Republican Gov. Scott Walker.

Moderate Democrats are in for an ideal matchup in November as Trump’s approval ratings plummet in the key swing state after Crowley defeated a democratic socialist candidate and Tiffany secured his own party’s nomination for governor.
But Crowley won’t be an easy opponent for Tiffany to defeat – the MAGA Republican had been banking on facing Francesca Hong and must now change his strategy to prepare to face a moderate Democrat known for working across the aisle with Republicans as the county executive in Milwaukee, the state’s largest source of Democratic voters.
