SpaceX to reattempt SDA mission, rally continues amid busy launch schedule

Elon Musk’s Space Exploration Technologies postponed a Monday launch for the Space Development Agency and will reattempt the mission on Tuesday, continuing its busy launch schedule. SPCX stock jumped late last week after completing a string of rapid-fire launches for multiple missions. The mission comes as Musk proposed changing the name of SpaceX’s artificial intelligence unit in order to conform with the Trump administration.

SpaceXSPCX, as the company is commonly referred to, will attempt to conduct another mission for the U.S. Space Development Agency on Tuesday, after scrubbing its first attempt Monday morning.

Per the mission plan, SpaceX will transport and deploy a batch of 21 Northrop GrummanNOC-made satellites into orbit as part of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture constellation. The PWSA constellation consists of multiple layers of satellites for orbital communication, missile tracking and defense capabilities.

The mission is SpaceX’s fourth data transport mission on behalf of the SDA as part of the first tranche of satellites.

SpaceX will transport the satellites via a Falcon 9.

The company plans to launch the mission from Space Launch Complex 4 East at the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. SpaceX is targeting 1:17 a.m. PT for liftoff, with a backup opportunity on Wednesday at 1:02 a.m. PT.

SpaceX initially planned to launch the mission Monday morning, but the Falcon 9 automatically aborted just prior to liftoff, SpaceX reported. The company did not initially disclose a cause but said the vehicle and payload are “in good health.”

Busy Launch Schedule

The mission is the latest in a busy schedule for SpaceX, after the company completed a string of missions last week including its highly-anticipated Starship flight 14.

SpaceX stock jumped Friday after it completed three missions within a span of 13 hours starting late Thursday.

SpaceX on Thursday launched a crew of NASA astronauts to the International Space Station as part of the NASA’s Crew 13 mission. The Dragon spacecraft docked with the ISS on Thursday evening, following its morning takeoff from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station atop a Falcon 9.

The company also conducted a Falcon Heavy launch as part of a mission for the National Reconnaissance Office.

SpaceX Stock

SpaceX stock swung more than 3% higher early Monday, continuing a bounce off its 21-day exponential moving average. The stock rose past a buy range above a 158.13 buy point in short consolidation that could be considered an IPO base.

SPCX stock has stepped higher through a series of brief consolidations. Shares are up nearly 57% from their early-August low of 104.88, having recovered above their 155 debut price and 135 listing price, respectively.
