Fans have blunt message for Arch Manning after loss vs. Oklahoma

It may not have been the highest-stakes game of Arch Manning’s college football career, but today’s loss to Oklahoma might wind up being the most defining game of that career. If nothing else, his performance today has his doubters and detractors practically doing victory laps.

Manning completed 19 of 31 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns but had two back-breaking interceptions in the fourth quarter that allowed Oklahoma to win the game and knock Texas off their perch as the No. 1 team in the nation.

Texas are now 4-1 on the season and the schedule isn’t going to get any easier. Each of their next five opponents (Florida, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, LSU) are ranked in the top-25.

The Fans Agree…

For many fans, his performance in the clutch reinforced what many have been saying for a while: He’s not that good, he’s not likely to make struggling NFL teams better or he’s not as good as his Super Bowl-winning uncles.

“I just cannot accept the notion that Arch Manning would make the Titans better,” one Tennessee Titans fan remarked on X.

“Please don’t ever talk to me about no Arch Manning again. If this kid goes first round that’s straight Nepotism and you know it,” another user on X declared.

“And that’s why Arch Manning needs to come back for another year of College Football. Just needs more experience,” former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL QB Robert Griffin III wrote.

“The thing about Arch Manning is he’s just not that good,” Barstool Sports’ Brandon Walker declared.

“Arch Manning has some kind of talent athletically, but he is amongst the worst decision makers I’ve ever seen at the position. Baffling, baffling throws in the 4th Qtr that essentially single-handedly lost them the game, along with special teams. Lost to a team that was considerably worse than you in so many facets. Hats off to OU—they picked off a team that was not ready to fight,” another wrote.

There are still seven regular season games and presumably some postseason games for Manning to convince the fans otherwise, but this Oklahoma-Texas film is likely going to haunt him from now until April.
