Newly uncovered court records reveal that former Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders was arrested on DUI charges this past June in the Pittsburgh area.

Sanders, a Pittsburgh native, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and careless driving on June 8 in Churchill Borough, CBS Pittsburgh reports.

The outlet cited official court records, which also reveal that police found marijuana in Sanders’ car.

According to the criminal complaint, an officer found Sanders ‘slumped over’ while in the drivers seat of a Lexus found in the middle of William Penn Highway.

Officers claim they attempted to wake Sanders, but the 29-year-old was ‘in and out of consciousness’ and presented as ‘extremely lethargic,’ according to CBS Pittsburgh.

Sanders also ‘performed poorly’ on field sobriety tests and tested positive for alcohol, according to police. He was taken into custody and has a court date in September.

A statement from Sanders’ agent, Phil DiLucente, read, “This is a private matter that has not even reached the preliminary hearing stage and there will be no further comment.’

Sanders played a significant portion of his football career in his home state, playing college football at Penn State for three seasons.

He was selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles, the team he’s best associated with.

Sanders played four seasons in Philadelphia. In his final year, he was named to the Pro Bowl as he chalked up 1,269 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.

In his first NFL season, Sanders set Eagles franchise records for the most rushing yards, most yards from scrimmage and most all purpose yards by a rookie.

Sanders left the Eagles in 2023 and signed a four-year deal with the Carolina Panthers. After two seasons, the Panthers released him.

He spent last season with the Dallas Cowboys and played as a backup until Week 4, when he suffered an ankle injury. Sanders was ruled out for the season with a left-knee injury in early October.

Sanders has not yet signed with an NFL team roughly two weeks before the start of the NFL season.
