Bird Bakery launches Dolly Parton cupcake fundraiser

Bird Bakery may have one of the sweetest tributes to the late Dolly Parton.

The bakery, founded by Elizabeth Chambers in San Antonio and now with additional locations in Dallas and Denver, has created a special Dolly cupcake. Proceeds from sales of the treat through Aug. 29 will go to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides free books monthly to enrolled children from birth to age 5.

The nonprofit works with community partners around the world, including in San Antonio. The goal is to spark a life-long love of reading.

Bird’s donations are part of its Cupcake for a Cause program.

The bakery announced it in a Facebook post that said it would always love Parton.

“We learned so much from Dolly, and giving back to the world around us is at the very top of that list. So, in her honor, we’ve created our sparkliest Cupcake for a Cause yet,” the post said.

It ended, “To Dolly – thank you for leaving the world a whole lot sweeter than you found it. Thank you for showing us how to live life BIG while loving everyone around us. And just like Miley Cyrus said, we’ll see you in all of the most beautiful things.”
