A Los Angeles city councilwoman and Democrat mayoral candidate celebrated the completion of a crosswalk that took eight months to finish on Thursday.

Nithya Raman, who represents Los Angeles’ 4th District, celebrated the crosswalk in an X post Thursday. Raman wrote, “Thank you to our incredible CD4 Field Team for contributing to problem-solve, push for solutions, and make our streets safer.”

The councilwoman included a side-by-side comparison of the intersection before and after the crosswalk’s completion, writing that her office was informed of the need for a crosswalk “in late 2025.”Former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt criticized the post on X, writing, “Nithya Raman’s big accomplishment is taking 9 months to paint 7 yellow stripes over a cracked street?” (RELATED: ‘They’re Crooked’: Spencer Pratt’s Bruising Mayoral Loss Raises Election Integrity Concerns)

Fox News congressional correspondent Bill Melugin joked on X that he had to “double check to make sure this is real.”

“Yes, the socialist candidate for LA mayor and current member of the LA city council is taking a victory lap for painting a crosswalk over a decrepit road full of cracks.”

The councilwoman — a member of the Democratic Socialist of America (DSA) — describes herself as an “urban planner” on her campaign website, claiming that she has “put everyday Angelenos first and I’ve delivered results.”

Raman entered the mayoral race just before the deadline in February and finished second in the June primary election, receiving 28.5 percent of the vote. Pratt finished third with about 26 percent of the vote, while incumbent Mayor Karen Bass received 34.3 percent.
