This follows a surge in tensions earlier this week as Donald Trump escalated his feud with Canadian leaders by suggesting the United States is considering renaming Lake Ontario to “Lake America”, as the situation showed no signs of cooling amid the continuing trade war.

Social media commentator Hal, known online as Hal for NY, recently shared his analysis of how recent developments have unfolded. In his view, the President is demonstrating that he is “broken”.

Hal stated: “Canada has completely broken Donald Trump as he’s been reduced to behaving like a toddler in his own trade war. Now, as you know, the U.S. and Canada are currently in a trade war, because Donald Trump wants Canada to bend the knee and submit to him, but they’re standing up to him and they’re calling out his lies.

“They have recently announced they will be placing up to a 50% tariff on hundreds of U.S. goods. Well Donald Trump has responded to that, not with any economic news, not with any retaliation.

“Instead, he announces that he wants to rename Lake Ontario, ‘Lake of America’. Yeah, that’s his response.

“Canada has broken him to the point he is out of ideas. That is something a toddler would do on the playground.”

According to Hal, Trump confirmed he may just do it in a recent interview, with Hal describing it as the “behavior of a toddler”. Unsurprisingly, the post generated significant discussion, with people expressing various opinions.

More than 8,000 people have liked the clip and numerous individuals commented. Many appeared baffled by the President’s conduct.

One said: “He is going around the globe like it’s a Monopoly board.” Another added: “Thank you Canada for standing up to Trump!”
