More than a week after Hayden Panettiere was pronounced dead in an apartment in Greenville, South Carolina, more than six federal agents reportedly visited her building in West Hollywood.

A witness who was inside the California building told Us Weekly in a report published Wednesday, August 25, that agents went to the residence the night before and had a search warrant.

While questions surround the Nashville alum’s death, her rep previously told the publication that people should not feed into what’s being said online.

“Many people who were not close to Hayden are using her death as an opportunity to fuel gossip and speculation about a situation they knew very little about,” the rep said in a statement on Tuesday. “It is deeply disrespectful to her memory and to those who knew and loved her and are actively grieving this tremendous loss.”

“If you have legitimate information that could be helpful, please contact law enforcement rather than turning to social media to speculate publicly about something you do not fully understand,” the statement continued. “There is much more to this story than what is currently being discussed publicly, and those closest to Hayden are actively cooperating with the ongoing investigation to help ensure that the truth comes to light and that justice is properly served.”

As In Touch previously reported, Panettiere died on Sunday, August 16, after going into cardiac arrest; she was 36. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office is awaiting toxicology results, which can take several weeks to complete.

Brian Hickerson, who had a tumultuous on-off relationship with the late actress, was in the same apartment with her when she died.

TMZ previously reported that Narcan — a nasal spray used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose — was found in the apartment. In dispatch audio obtained by People, officials were heard discussing an “overdose.”

Brian’s lawyer Sloan Ellis told Us in a statement last week that it “is important to allow that investigation” into Panettiere’s death “to proceed.”

“As has been publicly reported, police confirmed there were no signs of foul play,” the statement added. “Out of respect for Hayden’s loved ones and the ongoing investigation, there will be no further comment at this time.”

Brian’s brother Zach Hickerson told TMZ that Brian “gave her Narcan” before her death.
