Florida man faces 81 new charges as detectives fear more victims
A Marion County man already in custody on sex crime charges is now facing 81 additional felonies after forensic investigators searched his phone and uncovered extensive child sexual abuse material, according to local authorities.

Richard Kohn, 21, was served with the new charges by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The latest counts include 20 counts of possession of child sexual material, 20 counts of possession with intent to promote, 20 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, 12 counts of transmitting child sexual abuse material, and nine counts of possessing pornographic images involving animals.
Kohn has been held without bond at the Marion County Jail since May 28, 2026.
The case began when a School Resource Officer was alerted that a juvenile student had disclosed engaging in sexual activity with Kohn.
The victim’s mother subsequently found explicit photos and videos sent by Kohn through the victim’s Snapchat account. MCSO detectives set up an operation and arrested Kohn when he showed up at a designated meeting location expecting to engage in sexual activity with the juvenile.
Following that arrest, Detective Lowder obtained a search warrant for Kohn’s mobile device. A digital forensic examination revealed explicit images and videos of prepubescent children, identifiable minors from Marion and neighboring counties, and the primary victim. Investigators also uncovered evidence that Kohn recorded self-produced abuse material with a juvenile and sent those files to other individuals, triggering the additional 81 charges.
Kohn was originally booked on three counts of lewd and lascivious battery, two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation, two counts of traveling to meet a minor, and interference with child custody.
Given the discovery of self-produced material on his phone, sheriff’s office detectives believe Kohn may have additional unidentified victims. Anyone with information regarding Kohn is urged to contact Detective Michael Lowder at (352) 351-6408.
