A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer pointed a handgun at a bystander’s head during a tense arrest in North Hollywood Friday morning, video of the interaction appears to show.

The video initially shows an ICE agent arresting an unidentified person on the sidewalk near the intersection of Vineland Place and Otsego Street in North Hollywood. Moments later, a person walking a pair of dogs is seen talking to the arresting officer. A second ICE agent is then seen rushing into frame carrying what appears to be some kind of spray canister.

A short time later, the agent is seen dropping the spray canister onto the grass while they carry the unknown suspect away. That’s when the dog walker returns and tosses the canister into the street. One of the ICE agents is then allegedly seen forcing the person into the bushes and holding a gun to their head before letting them go.

NewsNation affiliate KTLA reached out to ICE and the Department of Homeland Security for comment on the agent’s actions. However, the agencies did not immediately respond.

The video was posted to Instagram by local photographer Damari “Disko” Butler, where it has received tens of thousands of views.

“ICE IN NORTH HOLLYWOOD!!!!!” Butler wrote on Instagram. “This was extremely intense to witness live.”

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass issued a statement in response to the video Friday night, vowing to hold the ICE agents accountable for their actions.

“This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in LA,” Bass’ statement reads. “I’m engaging the Attorney General’s Office to investigate and prosecute any wrongdoing by these federal agents. Additionally, I referred this matter to the Office of U.S. Representative Robert Garcia, the ranking Democrat leading oversight on federal immigration enforcement abuses. We beat Trump and ICE in court, and new state laws have implemented accountability measures for ICE agents to protect our communities.”

The video ends with multiple ICE agents carrying the original suspect toward a waiting SUV. The person who was held at gunpoint is seen running away with their dogs. Watch the full video in the player at the top of this story.
