Kai Trump is walking the halls of the University of Miami with her Secret Service agent following close behind her to all of her classes.

President Donald Trump’s granddaughter, Kai, is in her first semester as a freshman at the University of Miami, where she is balancing her studies, Division I women’s golf, and her social media platforms.

Kai, 19, isn’t alone as she transitions from high school to college life in Florida; she shared that her around-the-clock security guards are providing her protection while in school. It comes as Kai Trump felt “shock” in arm in worrying injury at first college event.

Kai, who is the eldest of Donald Trump Jr. and ex-wife Vanessa Trump’s five children, opened up about her Secret Service agents in a new YouTube vlog, “Answering Your MOST Asked Questions About College” on Saturday, Sept. 26.

She responded to the question, “Does your security follow you to your classes?”

“Yeah,” Kai replied, “My Secret Service are always with me; they’re always walking with me, and yeah.”

The U.S. Secret Service provides 24/7 protection to Trump and his immediate family, which includes his eldest granddaughter. Kai said that her Secret Service agents even trail her as she attends her college classes.

She has previously opened up on Logan Paul’s podcast about some of the challenges she has faced with the Secret Service constantly being near her.

“To be honest with you, it’s really awkward when you’re sitting, going on a date with a guy, and they’re, like, two tables behind you. It’s a little weird,” Kai said on the January 2026 episode.

“My thing is, I try my best not to let it bother me. I think, especially, I’ve learned over the past year, I’ve had to learn they’re following me, but focus and pretend like they’re not there. Obviously, they’re there, but if you can try not really focusing on that and more on enjoying time with your friends and family, whatever it is, it makes it easier.”

She went on to detail how it was challenging to adjust to her Secret Service when her grandfather came into office for the second time.

“It was not easy kind of having someone follow you all the time, planning if you’re going out somewhere, you have to [tell them] I’m leaving in five minutes,” Kai explained. “But once I was just like, ‘Their only job is to protect me. I’m going to focus on myself and have them do their job.’ It made it so much easier.”

Kai — who documents her life on social media and now has over 8 million followers across Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube — has even included her Secret Service in some of her content.

She posted a YouTube vlog, “I Brought My Secret Service to Erewhon,” in March 2026, which went viral as she gave her followers a tour of the upscale grocery stores. The Los Angeles-based chain was popularized for pricy items, including a $21 Hailey Bieber smoothie.

“I’m gonna need to file for bankruptcy,” she joked at one point in the video.

Someone behind the camera even said at one point that the Secret Service was rolling out the “red carpet” as an entourage of black SUVs and motorcycles pulled up to the curb to pick her up.

It’s safe to say that Kai has a different experience as the president’s granddaughter compared to the rest of Americans. But it’s not unlike other immediate families of sitting presidents. Former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle’s daughters Malia and Sasha also received Secret Service protection in their childhood, including at school.
