A 30-year-old woman has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2016 murder and dismemberment of a 19-year-old dancer in Georgia.

Following a 30-minute jury deliberation on Aug. 31, Katelyn Goble was convicted of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, concealing a death, and tampering with evidence.

The victim, Morgan Bauer, moved from South Dakota to the Atlanta area in February 2016 to work as an exotic dancer. She vanished later that month after leaving her job.

The case stalled until 2023, when Goble contacted police with details on where Bauer’s remains were located. Authorities subsequently arrested Goble in Illinois and her ex-boyfriend, Johnathan Alexander Warren, in Los Angeles.

Prosecutors stated the couple befriended Bauer, lured her to their property, strangled her, and dismembered her body. Goble’s ex-husband, David Settles II, testified that Goble confessed to him that she and Warren chopped up Bauer’s remains and dissolved them in acid. Defense attorneys argued that Warren carried out the attack and that Goble stayed quiet out of fear.

Warren pleaded guilty in January to malice murder, necrophilia, tampering with evidence, and concealing a death, receiving a life sentence without parole.At Goble’s sentencing, Bauer’s mother, Sherry Keenan, addressed the court: “May she reside in a personal hell that she created, so she cannot harm another living soul.”
