WNBA fans want Dijonai Carrington suspended for foul on Sophie Cunningham
Another day, another controversy involving the WNBA.
During this Saturday’s nationally-televised game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky, veteran guard Sophie Cunningham was rocked by DiJonai Carrington was she was attempting a layup. She immediately got up off the floor and shoved Carrington, which led to coaches and players breaking up this scuffle.

The officiating crew reviewed this foul and gave Carrington a flagrant 2, which is an automatic ejection.
“There’s a windup, a follow-through and potential for injury with Sophie Cunningham in a vulnerable position in the air,” ESPN’s Ryan Ruocco said. “There’s no question why Sophie Cunningham got up and took exception to that hit.”
Judging by some of the responses to Carrington’s foul, there are WNBA fans who believe she should serve a suspension on top of her ejection.
“Deliberate shot by Carrington. Easy ejection and hopefully a suspension to follow, at minimum,” one person said.
“Carrington has been a dirty player,” a fan declared. “She needs to be suspended.”
“A serious league would suspend her multiple games for that foul,” another fan wrote on X.
“Honestly that should be a 1-game suspension,” a social media user added.
DiJonai isn’t happy with the WNBA.
After heading into the locker room early, Carrington went on Threads and posted this message: “WHITE PRIVILEGE @indianafever.”
Suffice to say, Carrington believes Cunningham should’ve also been disciplined for her role in this Saturday’s scuffle.
We’d have to imagine the league will review this situation in the next day or so.
