Charlie Sheen is officially making TV history.

The actor is set to return to the small screen with a major Two and a Half Men reunion that’s going to happen very soon. Sheen has slowly been making his way back to the world of television following his controversial departure from the sitcom in 2011. Some of his most recent appearances include a guest star role as himself in Chuck Lorre’s comedy seriesBookie, as well as an award-nominated, two-part docuseries about himself titled aka Charlie Sheen. The actor’s latest roles are just the start of his ever-growing return to TV.

Now, AMC Global Media has confirmed Charlie Sheen and his father, actor Martin Sheen, will be reuniting as the leads in Happy Jack, a multi-camera comedy produced by the network. It will be the first comedy of its kind produced by AMC, and is scheduled to premiere on both AMC and AMC+ in 2027. Production is set to begin early next year, the pair starring as a father and son duo. Charlie Sheen released a statement about Happy Jack‘s production, and what to expect from the upcoming series:

I’ve always heard the moments that truly matter happen when they’re supposed to. The good folks at AMC have played a huge hand in deciding that moment is now. It’s no secret that it’s been a minute, and I’m thrilled to be going back on television in such a meaningful way in an equally wonderful show. The crew has reassembled — suffice it to say, it’s time to give the people what they want.

The show follows Jack (Charlie Sheen), a laid-back father of two adult daughters, mostly raised by his own dad (Martin Sheen). The comedy focuses on the family’s exploits, including the close relationship between Jack and his daughter Kate, and the conflict that erupts when his other daughter, Sam, brings home a boyfriend that’s his age. Season 1 will consist of six episodes. It’s the brainchild of writers Jim Patterson and Matt Ross: both previously worked on Two and a Half Men, with Patterson writing for the show while Sheen was still a cast member.It’s not the first time Charlie and Martin Sheen have shared the screen together, either. Martin Sheen previously collaborated with his son on Two and a Half Men, where he portrayed the wealthy and eccentric Harvey. He also showed up as Martin Goodson, Charlie Goodson’s father, in Charlie Sheen’s FX comedy Anger Management. However, Happy Jack will be the first time the pair have starred in a TV show together as the co-leads. It’s a milestone for both their careers, and a strong indication of the comedic elements to come.

Patterson, Ross, and Charlie Sheen serve as executive producers on the show, alongside The Tannenbaum Company’s Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, and Jason Wang, Todd Christopher, and 20th Century Television. While not much else is known about the show, it’s going to be a rare instance of a comedy series on AMC. While the network has dabbled in comedy-drama before, such as with The Audacity earlier this year, sitcoms are a rarity. AMC Studios President Dan McDermott also released a statement affirming the forthcoming production of Happy Jack:

I worked with Charlie years ago on Spin City, and he is a singular talent who has owned the screen in some of the most unforgettable films and television series ever made. We love this show from a great creative team, led by Jim Patterson and Matt Ross and the Tannenbaums. This is definitely something new for AMC, and we can’t wait to bring it to viewers next year.

With the show scheduled to begin filming at the start of next year, there’s no word on when exactly Happy Jack will arrive on the platform. But, with AMC expanding its content horizons with its first multi-camera sitcom, it sounds like the show has plenty of potential on both linear TV and the network’s streaming platform. Charlie Sheen and Martin Sheen leading the charge means it’ll be a memorable installment in their careers as they finally share the screen once again.
