‘Wish me luck’ lands Florida woman in jail over threat to kill President Trump
A 21-year-old Daytona Beach woman was arrested after authorities said she posted an online threat to assassinate the president ahead of his Friday visit to the East Coast.
Allison Albro faces charges of making written threats to kill and unlawful use of a two-way communications device, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said members of the sheriff’s office Domestic Security Unit and the U.S. Secret Service went to Albro’s residence following the post, which was made the night before her arrest. During the interview with law enforcement, Albro stated that the post was intended as a joke, that she does not possess or have access to a Glock or any other firearm, and that she had no intention of harming anyone.
Despite her explanation, deputies booked Albro into the Volusia County Branch Jail.
“We are not going to tolerate threats to assassinate the president,” the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Allison Albro, 21, Daytona Beach, is learning that the hard way.”
The agency warned the public about the legal consequences of making threatening statements online, even in jest.
“I would strongly advise anyone else thinking of posting a ‘joke’ along these lines to think twice,” the agency statement said.
The sheriff’s office said local authorities are working with federal agencies to secure the area ahead of the scheduled presidential appearance.
“VSO continues to work hand in hand with the Secret Service, FBI and all our law enforcement partners to ensure this presidential visit to Daytona Beach is a safe event for all who attend, and for our whole community,” the agency said.
